Statins: rhabdomyolysis and myopathy Statins belong to a class of cholesterol-lowering agents that inhibit the liver enzyme 3-hydroxy-3methylglutarylcoenzyme A HMGCoA ; reductase. Belin TOULOUSE 31055 Short term analysis of ice sheet volume change by radar altimetry may not be related to long term climatic change due to the low frequency response of an ice sheet in front to random fluctuations of snow accumulation. However, the time scale of the relaxation time of an ice sheet is large compare to human life and the effect of these random fluctuations in term of sea level change may be critical even if no linked to climatic change. The analytical expression of the relaxation time is developped. The precise topography deduced from radar altimetry allow to better estimate ice velocity, surface slope and thus the relaxation time. The variance of the induced effect on ice surface is found to be maximum at few hundred km from the coast due to both large relaxation time and snow accumulation. However, it is only near the coast, that this short t erm answer could hide any climatic signal and thus be critical for mass balance survey from altimetry. We show that the difference in Antarctica elevation estimated between Seasat 1978 ; and ERS 1993 ; could be partially explained by such processes. We als o estimate the probability of an actual induced sea level rise between 0.5 and 1 mm an more than 12.
