System for protected areas SNUC ; in 2002, which changed the required governance structure for managing a MER. The first period was characterized by a co-management arrangement between IBAMA and a local fisher organization AREMAC ; . A "utilization plan" to organize activities within the MER was elaborated with locals mainly fishers ; and approved by IBAMA. Other stakeholders were not much, if at all, involved in designing such plan. The second period, particularly the last two years, may be characterized by an attempt to create a Deliberative Management Council involving most stakeholders in order to revise the "utilization plan" and adapt it to a "management plan". Challenges and opportunities of creating such Council as well as of developing a management plan that may foster or hinder adaptive co-management and may or may not build resilience into the management system will be discussed in the paper. 34 journalists or writers threatened with death; 217 charges, sentences or legal actions; and 118 media outlets banned, suspended or closed. The urgent reaction to attacks on media freedom is also integral to the job of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. As outlined in the mandate for the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, created in November 1997, the person holding the position "will concentrate . ; on rapid response to serious non-compliance with OSCE principles and commitments by participating States in respect of freedom of expression and free media." In drawing up the mandate, OSCE participating States promised to "reaffirm the principles and commitments they have adhered to in the field of free media. They recall in particular that freedom of expression is a fundamental and internationally recognized human right and a basic component of a democratic society and that free, independent and pluralistic media are essential to a free and open society . ; " 2 addition to operating the AAN, the Clearing House publishes the "Communiqu", a weekly bulletin containing current free expression news, events, and awards. It is published in English, French and Spanish, and is available in print, by e-mail or via the Internet. Every year, a special World Press Freedom Day issue is published on or around 3 May, with a round-up of activities around the world. In 1999, the IFEX Internet Service also featured a special World Press Freedom Day page. In order to address the disparity between North and South, the Clearing House runs the IFEX Outreach Programme. This initiative gives support to nascent freedom of expression organizations in the developing world, Eastern Europe and in the former Soviet Union. IFEX offers these groups technical and financial support, as well as the encouragement they need to overcome the particular hardships they face in their country. When they become members of the IFEX community, these groups are provided with a support network that they can rely on. In exchange, they disseminate important news on freedom of expression violations that might otherwise go unchecked. Another significant effort in which members of IFEX are united in their efforts is by working together on joint actions, as they did in early April 1999 on an action protesting attacks on independent media in the former Yugoslavia. The World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters AMARC ; led the joint action on 6 April to condemn the closure of Radio B92 and the increasing crackdown on independent media in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Early on 2 April, Yugoslav police officers sealed the offices of Radio B92 and ordered all staff to cease work on the premises immediately. A court official who accompanied the police told station manager Sasa Mir.

Represent intrinsic properties that were determined for the individual receptors, they offer useful readouts to assess the functional consequences of heterodimerization. In the present study, the occurrence of heterodimerization between the 1AR and 2AR was assessed by co-immunoprecipitation and bioluminescence resonance energy transfer BRET ; in living human cells co-expressing the two receptors. The potential functional consequences of the heterodimerization were also assessed by determining the influence of receptor co-expression on the ability of the receptors to stimulate adenylyl cyclase and MAPK pathways as well as to undergo agonist-promoted internalization. We found that co-expression of the two receptor subtypes in HEK 293 cells lead to their heterodimerization and inhibited both agonist-promoted 2AR internalization and ERK1 2 MAPK stimulation. This suggests that heterodimerization may represent a regulatory cross-talk process arising through the creation of a receptor form that has distinct functional properties and ifosfamide.
Cisplatin, so rigorous hydration is unnecessary. Monitor the patients blood counts closely and reduce the dose per protocol. Cisplatin Platinol ; Nursing Considerations Cisplatin has vesicant potential if 20 cc 0.5 mg ml is extravasated. If less, cisplatin is an irritant. Hold the drug if the patients serum creatinine is 1.5 mg dl; otherwise, irreversible renal tubular damage may occur. Amifostine may be used as a renal protectant. Rigorous hydration is necessary to prevent nephrotoxicity. Use mannitol to achieve osmotic diuresis. Obtain a baseline audiogram. Cyclophosphamide Cytoxan ; Nursing Considerations Give the dose, whether IV or oral, early in the day. Adequately hydrate the patient. If the dose is oral, have the patient drink plenty of fluids. Have the patient empty his or her bladder frequently to prevent hemorrhagic cystitis. Pelvic irradiation potentiates hemorrhagic cystitis. When used with irradiation, potential for radiation recall exists with subsequent doses of cyclophosphamide. Dacarbazine DTIC ; Nursing Considerations Dacarbazine is an irritant. Administer by infusion over 30-60 min. Dacarbazine can cause severe pain and burning at the injection site and along the course of the vein. To reduce these effects, increase the diluent, reduce the infusion rate, and apply cold compresses to the needle-insertion site and along the vein. Protect solution from light pink solution indicates decomposition ; . Flu-like syndrome may occur up to 7 days after drug administration. Treat symptoms. Reduce doses for patients with poor renal function. Ifosfamide Ifex ; Nursing Considerations Administer the drug over 30 min. or more. To prevent hemorrhagic cystitis, always administer ifosfamide with mesna. Mesna may be given as a bolus dose, continuous infusion, or mixed in the bag with the ifosfamide. Mesna dose should be 60%-100% of the ifosfamide dose based on weight ; . Mechlorethamine hydrochloride nitrogen mustard, Mustargen ; Nursing Considerations Drug is a vesicant. Administer the agent over several minutes, through the side arm of a free-flowing IV. Flush with 125-150 cc normal saline. If extravasation occurs, the antidote is sodium thiosulfate. Use mechlorethamine as soon after preparation as possible 1530 min. it is extremely unstable. 11 of 85.

Subjects I and II ; The studies were performed at the Karolinska University Hospital, in Solna, the Center for Molecular Medicine and the Royal Institute of Technology. All cases were selected from a cohort of 250 patients who were operated at the Karolinska University Hospital from 1986 to 2004, with the final diagnosis of adrenocortical tumor. All patients were followed for at least 6 months. Median survival in the adenoma group was 96 months and 45 months in the carcinoma group. The median age in the entire group was 63 years range 29-84 years ; , in the adenoma group was 59 years range 29-79 years ; and for the cancer group 65 years range 52-84 years ; . There were 14 females and 3 males in the adenoma group and 4 females and 4 males in the cancer group. Median tumor size was 4 cm range 2-6 cm ; in the adenoma group, while it was 13 cm range 9-20 cm ; in the cancer group. The diagnosis of adrenocortical carcinoma was based on histopathological features such as: tumor size, capsular and vascular invasion, mitotic index, necrosis and pleomorphism. All cases were re-evaluated by one of the authors AH ; . In cancer, the appearance of metastasis or recurrence helped to establish the diagnosis. Normal adrenal cortex samples were obtained from patients undergoing nephrectomy. Material for the molecular studies was extracted from tissue biopsies. The samples included were 4 normal adrenocortical samples and 25 sporadic adrenocortical tumors. The adrenocortical tumors were 4 aldosterone producing tumors, 5 cortisol producing tumors, 8 incidentalomas and 8 cancers. A summary of some clinical and sample data is shown in table 1 II ; . Five out of eight patients with cancer had metastasis at the time of operation and one got metastasis during the follow up period. Five out of eight patients with cancer received postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy and one of these patients was also treated with radiotherapy for bone metastasis. Only one cancer sample showed a diploid pattern in DNA ploidy analysis while 5 cancer samples were aneuploid. This study was approved by the Ethical Committee at the Karolinska University hospital and indinavir.
5.Training: The Impulse extinguishing equipment should not be used by untrained personnel. Training comprises device attributes, handling and action tactics. During the training at the Rotherbaum fire and rescue department the following real fire training scenarios using the impulse extinguishing equipment were realised Car fires at the DASA- factory premises. Tire fires at the DASA- factory premises. Fire fighting training and flash over container at the F 05 training premises. Fully involved room fires were simulated during prominent trail testing by the Fire brigade Frankfurt. The extinguishing exercise was carried out by trained and qualified fire fighters. For the results of the test please refer to Appendix 1. It is clear that the fire fighter needs to experience the new extinguishing principle firsthand by undertaking practical fire tests. This ensures that the fire fighters gains the needed experience in the handling of the extinguishing equipment. The use should be integrated in the LAMDtraining of the LFS and also in the guard duty training. 6.Operational tactics: The use of the IFEX- gun takes place analogue to the rapid attack hose. In case of unknown fire extent a second C-hose with extensions should be brought along for safety reasons. HLF 2 ; At fire scenarios such as room fires the IFEX gun used by trained personnel is sufficient to extinguish the fire with only a small amount of water. 7.Conclusion: The IFEX- Impulse- Extinguishing Technology has proved its usefulness at the at the Rotherbaum fire and rescue brigade.

UPDATE - TUNISIA 1 March 2007 Mohammed Abbou Day: IFEX-TMG delegation blocked and intimidated at prison gates SOURCE: IFEX Tunisia Monitoring Group IFEX-TMG ; * Updates IFEX alerts of 8 December, 8 May, 26 and 21 April, 15, 6 and 2 March and 28 February 2006, and others * IFEX-TMG ; - The following is a 1 March 2007 IFEX-TMG press release: Mohammed Abbou Day: TMG delegation blocked and intimidated at prison gates Earlier today, the members of the Tunisia Monitoring Group TMG ; delegation visiting Tunisia 27 February - 4 March 2007 ; were physically prevented from accessing the street of the prison of the town of Le Kef 170 km south-west of Tunis ; , where human rights lawyer and writer Mohammed Abbou is jailed, by men who refused to identify themselves. A second, more distant, circle of men were taking pictures and openly staring at the members of the TMG delegation, thus creating a tense atmosphere. Members of the TMG delegation were prevented from taking pictures by the same men, most likely plainclothes policemen. The car of the delegation had previously been stopped on the road to Le Kef for about ten minutes by a group of officers of the national guard and plainclothes men who also refused to identify themselves. The TMG delegation simply wanted to enquire about a possible visit to Mohammed Abbou. Members of the delegation were told they needed an authorisation to get near the prison gates. Samia Abbou, the wife of Mohammed Abbou, was granted a 15-minute visit. TMG Chair Carl Morten Iversen declared: "I'm utterly outraged by what happened in Le Kef today. Unidentified men prevented us from accessing the street leading to the prison where Mohammed Abbou, the famous prisoner of opinion, is jailed, thus preventing us even from asking for permission to visit Mohammed Abbou. This is an abuse of power. Tomorrow we will be having a meeting at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights where we will be demanding answers vis-vis these events, while reiterating our call for the immediate release of Mohammed Abbou." Arrested on 1 March 2005, Abbou is currently serving a three and a half year prison sentence in connection to articles posted online in which he criticised Tunisian authorities. Abbou was charged under both the press and penal codes for "publishing false reports inclined to disturb the public order, " "insult to the judiciary" and "inciting the population to break the and intal.

Vice President, Medical and Regulatory Affairs, Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development, LLC Clinical trial registries demonstrate the pharmaceutical companies' commitment to providing healthcare professionals and patients worldwide with meaningful information about the science behind the products. It is working towards a goal of transparency. This session will discuss a number of issues including: Can a global company have only one clinical trials registry? How do we decide what studies to post on this registry? Can the studies contain the conclusions of the clinical trial or just the data? Are these sites promotional? Do you need the package insert? For which country?.
The decision to change a failing regime is extremely crucial and needs to be thought of very carefully. For optimal advantage diagnosis of drug failure needs to be done as early as possible. Response to the second regimen depends on early detection of drug failure and subsequently early switching to the proposed regimen and invirase
ABSTRACT Inclusion of fat reduces the glycemic response to a carbohydate meal, although the effect of different types of fat on glycemic, insulinemic and satiety responses is unclear. Ten healthy men received 50-g carbohydrate portions of mashed potato with isoenergetic amounts of butter saturated fatty acid ; , Sunola oil monounsaturated fatty acid ; or sunflower oil PUFA ; and two 50-g glucose loads on separate days. Capillary blood was collected at regular intervals for 2 h. Satiety ratings were assessed by use of a rating scale. The glycemic index GI ; , insulin index II ; and satiety index SI ; scores were calculated. Energy intakes from a meal consumed ad libitum at 2 h and for the remainder of the day were quantified. The GI values ranged from 68 8 to and the II values ranged from 113 10 to 122 17, but there was no effect of fat type. SI scores and subsequent energy intake did not differ among the test meals. Substitution of unsaturated fats for saturated fatty acids had no acute benefits on postprandial glycemia, insulin demand or short-term satiety in young men. J. Nutr. 133: 25772580, 2003 and ifex.
